Articulation Updates
Spanish and Portuguese, Lower Division B.A.
There is a discontinuance of the five undergraduate major specializations in Spanish and Portuguese and the establishment of a single major with concentrations in their stead, starting in Spring 2018. The intent of the new structure is to provide a core experience in the major while still offering students the opportunity to concentrate on a particular area of interest.
The five major specializations (Hispanic Languages, Linguistics and Bilingualism; Iberian Languages and Literatures; Latin American Languages, Literatures, and Cultures; Portuguese Language, Literatures, and Cultures; and Spanish Languages, Literatures and Cultures) will be replaced by a single major in “Spanish and Portuguese” with the following concentrations:
- The Languages, Literatures, and Cultures of the Spanish-Speaking World
- The Languages, Literatures, and Cultures of the Portuguese-Speaking World
- Latin American Languages, Literatures, and Cultures
- Hispanic Languages, Linguistics, and Bilingualism
